One of the easiest ways to make your new phone secure is by changing the way you can lock and unlock your phone. You can set up a Motorola Droid so that you can lock the screen from anyone unless they know the pattern to unlock it.

      Access your security settings by going to "Menu," "Settings," "Location & Security."

      Confirm your Droid's default security settings are set to lock the phone in the three following ways:
      -- when the screen times out
      -- when you press the "Power" button
      -- and when you power off the Droid

      Check the default unlock pattern on your phone. Press the "Power" button and drag the lock icon to the right.

      Set a new unlock pattern if desired. Click on "Set Unlock Pattern" under the path described in Step 1. Follow the instructions on how draw your pattern. Make sure the pattern is something that you will remember every time.

      Change the default Lock by selecting "Change Unlock Pattern" under "Settings," "Location & Security" and follow the instructions for changing your default lock pattern.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can still make emergency calls when the phone is locked.

  • Contact your service provider if you have forgotten your lock code or pattern.
