Toshiba America Business Solutions markets a mid-volume line of copiers and printers under the eStudio model name for business use. These multifunction machines have copying, printing, scanning and faxing capabilities. A wide variety of print mediums can be run through the machines including sticker labels. The settings for running these labels is different from those for standard paper. With attention to the special needs of the labels as a print medium, they can be run reliably.

Copied Labels

Place the original on the glass or in the automatic document handler.

Open the bypass tray on the right side of the copier. Flip down the tray, then pull out the tray extension.

Place the label sheets into the bypass tray face down with the head toward you.

Adjust the paper guides in the bypass tray appropriately for the label sheet.

Touch the paper size button on the control panel to correspond with the label sheet size (usually "LTR" size). Touch the "Media Type" button on the control panel, then touch "Thick 2." Touch "Enter."

Press the "Start" key.

Printed Labels

Open the bypass tray on the right side of the copier. Flip down the tray, then pull out the tray extension.

Place the label sheets into the bypass tray face down with the head toward you.

Adjust the paper guides in the bypass tray appropriately for the label sheet.

Return to your desk, then select the "Print" option in the software application from which you wish to print.

Select the Toshiba printer. In the Print dialog, select the bypass tray as the paper source and select "Thick 2" print mode, then print the document.

Tip

Toshiba recommends Avery 5165 sticker labels for use in its multifunction printers and copiers.

Warning

Use only the bypass tray for running labels. Attempting to run labels from any of the other paper trays will result in misfeeds, label separation -- and could damage the machine.

When using sticker labels, be certain the labels are rated for use in copy machines and be certain to use the type of labels which covers the entire sheet. Don't use label sheets that have a gap between the individual labels on the sheet. The type which have gaps between the individual labels are highly prone to peel off the sheet inside the copy machine and almost certainly require a service visit to remove them.
