How to Login to Online Banking for Bank of America

Bank of America offers online banking for all of their retail customers in every state. Registering for online banking can be performed for you by a teller at any retail location or can be conducted from any computer with an Internet connection. The bank will requires that you enter identifying information such as your ATM card number, your PIN, the last four digits of your Social Security number and your e-mail address. Once you complete that registration, you'll be able to log into your account online whenever you want.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ensure that you are using the Internet from a reasonably secure location. Conducting online banking from a public computer or while using an unsecured wireless network such as those in libraries or coffee shops makes you vulnerable to theft and identity theft. Make sure that you are using a secure password.

  2. Step 2

Visit the Bank of America website. (See Resources 1, 2 and 3).

  3. Step 3

Look for the text box under the words "Enter Online ID" in the upper left portion of the page. Input the online ID that you linked to your account.

  4. Step 4

Select the state in which you opened your bank account on the following screen. If your Bank of America online ID is linked to multiple accounts from different states, you can choose either of the states in which you have a bank account in order to proceed.

  5. Step 5

Look at the image under the red text words "Your Sitekey." If you recognize the image from when you set up your online account, proceed to enter your passcode in the text box below. Your passcode is not the same as your PIN. You created your passcode when you registered for online banking. If you have forgotten your passcode, follow the link that says "Reset Passcode" to answer a personal question and have the new passcode sent to the e-mail linked to your bank account.

Tips & Warnings
  • Contact a Bank of America customer service representative by telephone or at a retail location if you have any further issues logging into online banking.
  • Make sure that the address on your bar says "https://www.bankofamerica.com/index.jsp" when you go to the website. Avoid links to the Bank of America website from strange e-mails or other websites you don't recognize; they could be attempts to steal your online banking login and password.
