How to Refill a Round Peppermill

Peppermills are available in countless styles and sizes, although all of them operate on the same twist-blade principle. Instructions

      Unscrew the grinder adjustment knob counter-clockwise from the top of the peppermill and set aside.

      Life the cover plate and handle assembly off the center spindle inside the peppermill to reveal the peppercorn compartment below.

      Pour peppercorns into the compartment, leaving about 1/2 inch of clear space at the top of the peppermill to make it easier to turn the grinder handle, which reduces wear and tear and prolongs the life of the peppermill.

      Replace the handle assembly and cover on the top of the center spindle.

      Reattach the grinder adjustment knob and tighten by hand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the grind of the peppercorns from coarse to fine by loosening or tightening the top knob.
