Instructions

    • 1

Use fabric scissors to cut 16 pieces from an old pair of stockings or tights. Fabric scissors have sharper blades and will give you a smoother cut. If you would like multiple colors in your scrunchie, cut two pairs of tights in different color. You will need eight of one color and eight of the second. To cut the tights, cut across the legs of the tights to create loops.

    • 2

Place your little finger inside of one of the loops. With your other hand, twist it 180 degrees and place your ring finger in the loop. Repeat this process two more times until it is weaved around your middle and your index finger also.

    • 3

Repeat Step 2 with a second loop. If you are using two colors, you will want to use the second color here.

    • 4

Pull the first loop of tights away from your little finger. Pull it up and over the second loop of tights and over the top of your little finger. Let it rest in between your little and ring finger, on top of the second loop of tights. Repeat this with the other two fingers until the only loop of tights still on your finger is the second.

    • 5

Repeat Step 2 with a third loop of tights. If you are only using two colors, you would want to revert back to the first color. Repeat Step 3 and 4, pulling the bottom layer over the top.

    • 6

Continue to weave additional loops onto your fingers and then pulling the bottom layer up until you have weaved all 16 loops.

    • 7

Remove the weaved loops from your fingers after you have added the 16th loop. Pull the two ends of the weaved loops together. Weave the ends of the loops through one another and tie a knot. For best holding, double knot. Use your new scrunchie to hold your hair back.
