How To Block Hotmail on Outlook

Outlook, the email client by Microsoft for business and professional users, is equipped with powerful junk mail filtering capabilities. If you use Outlook for your work email, you may receive email from addresses hosted by free providers such as Hotmail which are not work-related. If you prefer not to receive email from Hotmail addresses, use the Outlook spam filter to block all emails from this provider.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Actions" in Outlook, then click "Junk E-mail" and "Junk E-mail Options."

    • 2

Click the "Blocked Senders" tab, then click the "Add" button.

    • 3

Type "hotmail.com" into the text box, then click "OK." Messages originating from Hotmail email addresses will no longer be delivered to your inbox.

Tips & Warnings

  • As an alternative to blocking all emails from Hotmail, consider blocking individual addresses. Right-click on an email message from an address from which you no longer wish to receive emails, click "Junk E-mail," then click "Add Sender to Blocked Senders List."
