How to Darken the Background Picture Color on Windows Mobile
When you change the background picture on your Windows Mobile device using the "Today" theme menu, you may notice that the picture appears washed out. This is because of the transparency settings Windows Mobile uses by default, which are intended to make onscreen text easier to read. However, you may wish to remove this transparency to darken the image and make it easier to see. Tap "Start," then tap "Programs." Tap "Pictures & Videos."

Use the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to select the folder where your images are stored. By default, the Pictures & Videos application will begin in the "My Pictures" folder.

Tap and hold on the picture that you would like to use as your background, then tap "Set as Today Background."

Tap inside the "Transparency Level" box, and set the transparency level to 0 percent to display the image with its original darkness, or a higher level to maintain some transparency.

Click "OK" when you are done. The new background will be displayed on your Today screen instantly.
