How to Buy Flowers for Someone in Another City
Buying flowers for someone is a nice gesture, but what if they live in another state or city? You can still honor that special person, event or day with a bouquet of flowers or potted plant. Oftentimes there are advertisements over the TV, radio or newspapers that guarantee delivery to anyone, anywhere. You can also use the Internet to find a nationwide florist.

1
Write down the number of the florist that advertised and give them a call. If you saw a bouquet you liked advertised on the ad, write down that information as well. If choosing a florist on your own, be sure to ask them if they deliver to other cities.
-
2
Tell them the types of flowers you want and the colors you prefer. If you do not know, then ask for their suggestions. They will ask you a few questions to help you decide. They may ask the recipient's favorite flower, their favorite color, or hobbies. Questions may include if their home is traditional, contemporary, country or Victorian. They may ask if the recipient is dramatic, romantic, artistic or an outdoorsy type of person.

3
Discuss your price range. If you do not have much money for roses, ask them for suggestions. Some people do not have any idea of what to buy and they leave it up to the florist. Florists are there to help you with any decisions so you can send a great looking arrangement.

4
Find out the different holder choices they have. There are many choices like a teacup, vase or glass bowl.
-
5
Tell the florist the recipient's name, phone number and address where you want the flowers delivered. Tell them the best time to deliver and if they have a work number, that is helpful too.
-
6
Tell them the message you want on the card. If you are not sure of what to say, the florist can offer suggestions.
-
7
Discuss method of payment. Most places prefer a credit card so they have their money right away. If you do not have a credit card number, ask if you can pay by check or a money order. Some florists still take payment that way over the phone. You may have to wait for them to deliver the flowers until they get your money. This will depend on the florist shop.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the florist is reputable. Do a quick check with the Better Business Bureau to find out. Ask friends who may have used that same florist company or look them up on the Internet and see if there are any bad reports.
If it is the holiday season, call early so they do not run out of a certain flower that you want. Supplies run low during the holiday seasons.
Make sure they deliver nationwide.
