How to Download and Install AVG Antivirus Free Edition
AVG Antivirus Free Edition can protect your computer while surfing, searching and social networking. This version is free and will protect your computer from viruses and other threats.

Navigate to the AVG website (free.avg.com) to download AVG Free Edition.

Click the "Download" button. Save the file to your hard drive and run the file. Click "Run" again if you get the Internet Explorer Security Warning.

Click "Next."

Choose the "Install only basic free protection" option on the next screen and then click "Next." The AVG Software Installer downloads the files it needs for the rest of the installation. Note that you may have to wait a few minutes.

Scroll down to read the license terms. Then accept the license agreement by clicking "Accept."

Select the "Basic Protection" radio button and click "Next" to install AVG Antivirus Free Edition.

Select the "Quick Install" radio button for a standard configuration. Select the "Custom Install" radio button if you want to install in a different folder than the default folder, or if you don't want to install all the AVG Antivirus components. After making your selection, click "Next." The Install the AVG Security Toolbar window appears.

Uncheck the applicable box if you don't want to install the AVG Security Toolbar or if you don't want to set AVG Security Search as the default search provider. By default, these options are checked. Click "Next." Wait while AVG completes the installation. Agree to the privacy policy and enter an optional email address and click "Finish."
Choose "Optimize Scanning Now" in the next window. That will take a few minutes to complete but will make scans faster in the future. You are now protected by AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition.

Tips & Warnings
You should probably go ahead and run a full scan when you finish the install.
Make sure to uninstall any other anti-virus software before installing AVG Free, as it could conflict with the installation process.
If you are already infected with a virus, you may have trouble installing or running AVG.
