Use a dry dust cloth to clean off the majority of the dirt and grime on the outside. Do not use furniture polish because it may strip away the oils in the wood and lead to problems over time.
-
2
Dislodge the dust in between the more delicate parts using a soft toothbrush, being gentle but thorough.
-
-
3
Mix a small amount of warm water with a few drops of dish liquid.
-
4
Lay the clock on a flat surface face down. Open the back latch to expose the inside of the clock.
-
5
Dip a cotton swab into the warm soapy water and carefully clean the inside. There is no need to be very thorough, as the clock can still work with some dirt on it. Leave thorough cleaning to the professionals.
-
6
Close the case, turn over the clock, and then use a cotton swab to clean around the bird and it's opening.
-
7
Apply natural oil with a soft cloth to protect the wood.
