Instructions

    • 1

Lay a diaper out on a flat surface and roll it tightly. Wrap a rubber band around the diaper. Do this with several diapers. Take five or six diapers and scrunch them all together so they form a wheel-like shape. Take a large rubber band and wrap it around all five or six diapers.

    • 2

Cut a piece of wide decorative ribbon to fit around these diapers. With a hot glue gun, glue the ribbon around the diapers over the rubber band. Repeat these steps three times, so you have four "wheels."

    • 3

Set the four diaper wheels on a flat table. Set a woven basket on top of them. One by one wrap the same decorative ribbon you already used around the diaper wheel and poke the ends through the bottom of the woven basket; tie the ends in a knot inside the basket so the wheel is secured to the basket. Repeat with the remaining three diaper wheels.

    • 4

Prop a book up at one end of the basket and glue it to the inside so it stands straight up. Wrap a swaddle cloth or blanket around the basket and book so it is entirely covered. Tuck the edges into the inside of the basket.

    • 5

Create a covering for the carriage by draping a thick, plastic bib over the book. Place a stuffed animal inside the carriage. Add any extra trimmings you would like such as ribbons or rhinestones.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use size-1 or size-2 diapers as many babies grow out of newborn sizes so quickly the diapers end up not being used.

  • Coordinate the blanket and other decorative items with the theme and color scheme of the baby shower or baby's nursery.

  • Don't try to roll the carriage as the wheels will not spin; they will just start to pull apart from the carriage base.

  • Be careful not to overload the inside of the carriage with goods as the weight can crush the diaper tires.
