How to Find a Person's Photograph

Thanks to the World Wide Web, finding people and photographs is as easy as ever. People want to find others for a variety of reasons, and a profile photograph is the easiest way to verify an identity because hundreds or thousands of people around the world may share the same name. There are a few steps you can take to find a person's photograph.

Instructions

    • 1

Check popular social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. Both of these famous sites have millions of members, so there is a good chance you'll find the individual (and photograph) you are looking for on one or both of these sites. Create an account and search by name or email, or try entering the name into Google or Yahoo and see if anything pops up from Facebook or MySpace.

Check public records. If you are searching for a person's photograph that is more than five to ten years old, a strong possibility exists that the photo is not on a social networking site or online at all. Public records are always a great place to start, especially if you are looking for someone famous, and more so if the photo is 50 or more years old. Check with your local library and move your search to the local, state, or national government sites or offices if the search is unfruitful.

Contact family members or friends. If you know the individual's family members or friends, a strong likelihood exists that they either know the whereabouts of the individual (and contact information) or they may even have the actual photograph you need. Start with the family and then move to the friends. If you are looking for an educational or athletic photo, the school at which the photo was taken may have the person's photograph on record.
