How to Wire a Halogen Lighting Fixture
Halogen lights are small incandescent lights patented by General Electric in 1959. Installing halogen lighting is a great way to add drama and warmth to a space. Many halogen light fixtures are designed to make the installation go smoothly and are a snap to install. Halogen light fixtures can be purchased at any home improvement store. Find the main circuit breaker, and disconnect the power to the area where the fixture will be installed. Often, the circuits will be labeled according to the areas they control in the house.

Place a piece of masking tape over the breaker switch to ensure that the switch is not turned on accidentally while you are installing the fixture.

Position the ladder under the location where the light will be installed. It may be a good idea to have someone hold the ladder for you to stabilize the ladder.

Remove any existing fixture from the area where the new fixture will be installed.

Connect the wires in the electrical box to the new fixture by connecting the color-coded wires together. Connect black with black, white with white and the copper ground with the ground wire.

Secure the exposed wires with the yellow wire caps. This will protect the exposed wires and prevent sparks and fires.

Secure the new fixture to the electrical box with the screwdriver.

Remove the tape from the circuit breaker, and reconnect the power.
