How to Properly Apply Retin Cream for Wrinkles

Retin-A is a cream that comes in two varieties, 0.05 percent cream and 0.1 percent cream. Retin-A gets its name from the retinoic acid that comes from vitamin A. The lower concentration helps treat wrinkles, and the higher concentration treats acne. If you have never used this cream before, it is highly recommended to start with the lower concentration and gradually work up to the higher concentration if acne is a problem.

Things You'll Need

• Retin-A cream, 0.05 percent
• Face wash

Instructions

1. Wash your face.

2. Put a dime-sized amount of Retin-A on your fingertips.

3. Apply the Retin-A to your face in a circular motion, making sure to avoid the eyes. You can target the wrinkles around your eyes but avoid making direct contact with your eyes.

4. Follow with a gentle, pH-balanced moisturizer. The pH-balanced moisturizers are moisturizers that will match the acidity or alkalinity of your skin to prevent over moisturization or dehydration of your skin. Just look for a note on the container that says pH balanced, or call the manufacturer to find out the ingredients.

Tips & Warnings

• Skin may appear red after application because Retin-A forces blood cells to rise to the surface and create new and fresh skin. Do not be alarmed.

• Do not ingest Retin-A or get the product into your eyes. If this occurs, flush your eyes water, and call poison control immediately.
