How to Change the Serpentine Belt for a Ford ZX2

The serpentine belt for a Ford ZX2 drives several pulleys on the ZX2's engine. The serpentine belt needs to be checked and replaced when the belt begins to deteriorate. A belt that is fraying or has teeth missing must be replaced. Replacement belts can be purchased from any Ford dealership or from most auto parts stores.

Things You'll Need

• Allen key wrench
• Breaker bar

Instructions

1. Place the allen key wrench in the tensioner pulley near the top of the engine.

2. Place the breaker bar over the top of the allen wrench.

3. Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise to remove tension on the belt.

4. Remove the belt from the pulley system and slide the new belt on. Installation is the reverse of removal. Follow the belt path orientation on the underside of the hood on your ZX2 when re-installing.
