How to Put Lotion Over Coverup for Acne
Many women want to cover their acne with coverup to conceal red spots and bumps. However, many acne products, like benzoyl peroxide, dry out the skin around each pimple, and when coverup is applied, the dry skin often becomes flaky. This problem creates the need to moisturize the skin to prevent it from flaking all day long. The best way to do this is by applying lotion on top of the coverup without smearing or removing it. Does this Spark an idea?

How to Apply Moisturizer and Coverup on Acne
-
1
Pump one or two squirts of facial lotion on clean hands and rub all over the face, avoiding eyes and lips. Allow to air-dry for two to five minutes before applying makeup.
-
2
Apply an even coat of foundation all over the face with the application sponge. Try not to let the tip of the foundation bottle touch the sponge after it's been on your face.

Using a clean fingertip, dab a tiny amount of concealer on each acne bump, red mark or whitehead. Work the liquid into the skin until it blends in with the foundation. If it does not blend well with your fingers, blend the uneven edges of the concealer into the foundation with the application sponge.

On the plate or plastic lid, mix one small pump of lotion with a drop of foundation. Using the Q-tip or toothpick, stir until the lotion is completely tinted.
-
5
With clean fingertips, carefully dab a little tinted moisturizer on top of the covered acne bumps. Apply extra moisturizer to any areas of skin that have a dry, scaly texture until the skin returns to its original consistency. Again, if your fingers don't do a good job of rubbing in the moisturizer, take the application sponge and gently work it into the affected areas. Note that too much rubbing with the sponge will only flake off more dry skin, so use the sponge as a last resort at this point.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't want to make your own tinted moisturizer, many cosmetology departments carry a pre-tinted moisturizer you can use instead. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends always using noncomedogenic makeup and moisturizers on acne-prone skin, as these products are designed specifically for acne-prone skin and won't clog your pores or worsen your acne problem.
Throw away the application sponge or wash it in warm, soapy water after each use. Otherwise, you will reapply germs and oils to your skin when you use it the next time. Wash your hands well after handling tinted makeup, as these products stain clothing and other sensitive surfaces.
