How to Use Honda Pressure Washers

For some time a great many pressure washers powered by Honda engines have been on the market. The longevity of Honda-powered pressure washers speaks to their reliability as pressure washing units. Though pressure washers are made of separate components, such as engines, water pumps, unloaders, thermal relief valves, and so on, that are assembled together by different makers to form complete and distinct units, there's not too much difference in knowing how to use a Honda pressure washer and another pressure washer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Setup

    • 1

Read the owner's manual to learn the Honda pressure washer. Also ask for a professional's help.

    • 2

Fill the washer's gas tank with gas. Fill the engine with oil to proper oil level. Fill the water pump with oil to the proper oil level, if necessary.

    • 3

Attach a water hose to the water inlet valve coupling and the other end to a water source or spigot. Attach a pressure washer hose to the water pump outlet valve coupling usually a male or female plug.

    • 4

Attach a pressure washer gun with wand or lance to the pressure washer hose. Attach a pressure washer nozzle to a lance or wand, which already has a female plug attached to it.

    Start and Usage

    • 5

Turn on the water to the pressure washer. Adjust the engine RPM lever higher or pull it outward from its lowest position. (Raise the engine's RPMs or give it more gas if the Honda pressure washer isn't equipped with an engine RPM lever.)

    • 6

Turn the start switch on. Pull the engine starter cord to start the pressure washer. If the Honda pressure washer is equipped with an electric starter, simply turn the starter switch to turn it on.

    • 7

Adjust pressure valve and engine speed. Start pressure washing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Depress the pressure washer gun trigger to release built-up pressure if the engine didn't start upon first or the first few pulls on the starter cord and you're having trouble pulling the starter cord again.

  • Depress the gun trigger while pulling the engine start cord, if necessary, to keep the water pressure from building up while trying to start it.

  • Be mindful of where the pressure washer gun is aimed when starting the pressure washer, always pointing it away from people and objects.

  • Check fluid levels prior to starting. Running the pressure washer without engine and/or water pump oil will ruin both the engine and the water pump.
