You are usually working as an independent contractor, so you will have your own business name, letterhead and website address. You will also be taxed as an independent contractor.

  • Invest in an at-home office. Set aside a space in your home that will be used as your office. Even if it it just a desk and laptop in the corner of your bedroom, keep the space organized and all your materials close by. You will need a computer, Internet access, telephone, fax machine and credit card.
