How to Use Lactobacillus Capsules to Treat Vaginosis
Bacterial vaginosis is a type of vaginitis that results from an imbalance of "good" and "bad" bacteria in the vagina. Symptoms include a grayish-white discharge and a fishlike odor. The good bacteria (lactobacilli) should outnumber bad bacteria (anaerobes). This balance can be disturbed by use of IUDs, douches, and numerous sex partners, triggering vaginitis. The balance can be restored by use of lactobacillus probiotics.

Tips & Warnings
An alternative to capsules is eating 8 ounces of yogurt each day, specifically with an L. acidophilus concentration of 100 million CFU per milliliter. Ingestion leads to increased colonization of L. acidophilus in the rectum and vagina. Direct application has also been found to be beneficial.
Note that antibiotics could be killing off the "good" bacteria in the vagina, causing the vaginitis. Therefore, taking the tablets two hours after taking antibiotics can restore the "good" flora killed off just hours before.
