How to Put a Bar in a 10X10 Patio
A patio bar is a nice addition to any patio space, whether you entertain guests for cocktails or have simple, casual barbecues. A patio bar is even useful for providing an outdoor surface for children to complete crafts and for use as an outdoor plant stand. Because a patio bar is short in width, and not a lot of length is required in order for the bar to serve its purpose, the bars are easily placed on patios of various sizes. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove all existing items from the patio. This will give you an idea of exactly how big a 10-foot by 10-foot space is with no furniture present. Consider how you will place the patio bar and the furniture in order to establish a good traffic pattern around all of the pieces. It is often best to place the bar along a wall or to one end of the patio, rather than in the center, as this will leave room for the other furniture to be placed.

2
Measure the width and length of the bar you have built or purchased to determine the complete size of the patio bar. Consider whether the bar is open and accessible on one, two, three or all sides.

Use the measurements of the bar and the access points of the bar to consider possible locations for placement. If only one side of the bar provides access, you may be able to place the back of the patio bar against a wall and leave a generous amount of space for other patio furniture. Patio bars with access on two or three sides may also be placed against a wall, depending on the location of the open sides of the bar; the bar may jut out from the wall but still provide an acceptable amount of remaining space.

4
Place, remove and replace the patio bar and furniture several times until you have decided on which layout provides the most space for furniture and ease of movement. If you do not want the bar to be a permanent fixture, then you can change the placement each time you use the bar and can customize the layout for the event.

5
Install a permanent patio bar by affixing it to the patio to prevent harsh winds from knocking the bar over and damaging it. Bars may be installed using nails or screws and appropriate tools for attachment to walls; bars that sit in the middle of a patio will need to be attached to the concrete floor of the patio using appropriately sized concrete anchors.
