Indoor waterfalls make a statement in an entranceway and add a soothing ambiance to any room. You can create a rustic indoor waterfall with a sheet of acrylic, some river rocks and a metal planter. A copper or a tin planter will work equally well for this rustic design. Construct a waterfall from ceiling to floor, or make a small tabletop waterfall. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Select a rectangular planter that is at least 12 inches deep and at least 6 inches wider than the sheet of acrylic you are using to make the waterfall.
-
2
Place the acrylic sheet horizontal on a flat surface. Glue a 1-inch square block to each of the top corners of the acrylic with waterproof adhesive. Let the adhesive dry. Flip the acrylic over so that the wooden blocks are on the backside.
-
-
3
Measure the height of the planter. Measure the same distance from the bottom edge of the face of the acrylic sheet. Mark the distance onto the acrylic.
-
4
Glue river rocks over the face of the acrylic sheet with waterproof adhesive. Do not add rocks below the mark you made in Step 2. The acrylic sheet will stand in the planter, so any rocks below the planter's rim will not be visible. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
-
5
Seal any drainage holes in the planter with plumber's putty. Let the putty dry.
-
6
Place the planter against the wall where you'd like to have your rustic waterfall. Stand the acrylic sheet in the planter with the top of the sheet braced against the wall. Line bricks in the planter to brace the acrylic inside the planter. The bricks will also help keep the planter from moving away from the wall.
-
7
Cut a length of plastic tubing to fit from the waterfall pump inside the planter to the top of the acrylic sheet. Attach one end of the tubing to the backside of the top of the acrylic with duct tape. The tip of the tubing should fall over the top edge of the acrylic so that the water will fall over the river rocks.
-
8
Attach the opposite end of the plastic tubing to the water spout on the waterfall fountain. Place the fountain inside the planter so that the plastic tubing is hidden behind the river rock wall. Run the electrical cord over the side of the planter, keeping it also behind the river rock wall.
-
9
Cover the bricks with more river rocks. Fill the planter with water.
