      Make sure the website page you are putting your social security number into is secure. Look at the url. at the top of the page, secure website pages will have a padlock sign before the url. Look further into the url. Url's that start with [https://]means you are on a secured page; if the URL starts with http://, you're not. You will want to look at the page they want you to put your information on, not just main website pages. Never give your social security number on a job application if the host does not provide a secure application page.
