When felt is finished you are ready to shingle. Apply a row of starter shingles or starter strip along eave. Now cut a set of starter shingles. On 3 tab singles make a set of starters that are in six inch increments. In architectural shingles cut one shingle at 7 1/2 inches and the next at 15 inches. Use all four shingles plus a full shingle in your set. When applying each course of shingles start with longest starter and angle your way up. Hang starter shingles 1/2 inch over roof edge. When you have starters on. follow these with full shingles to you get to the end of roof. Cut ender so it hangs over 1/2 inch. Do this til you are at the peak of roof. Repeat on other side or sides of roof. When you are to the peak on all sides you are ready to cap the roof. Take your cap shingles and fold over peak nail both sides lap so there is a 5 to 7 inch reveal depending on shingle style. When going around a vent or other protrusion cut shingles close and caulk down to flashing.
