How to Remove a Silverado Power Window Motor
Most window motors for late-model Chevrolet Silverados include the window regulator. With this type of two-channel cable systems, it is difficult to replace the window motor independently. If attempted, special tools will be needed and can possibly cause bodily injury. The gear that the window motor is engaged with tends to unwind and is difficult to position properly to install the motor. There is not a great cost differential in replacing the entire unit, and doing so guarantees that it will work.

1
Remove the two Phillips screws in the armrest. Remove the screws around the circumference of the door. Lift the door panel up to slide the inverted hooks out of the door and pull the panel back a few inches.
-
2
Disconnect the electrical plugs from the window switch and the door lock mechanisms. Remove the moisture barrier plastic from the door to gain access to the window mechanism. Disconnect the electrical connector on the window motor.

3
Remove the nuts in the upper and lower quadrant of the window regulator channels that secure the regulator to the door. Use a 10 millimeter ¼-inch drive socket for this procedure. Remove the three 10 millimeter bolts securing the window motor to the door using the same socket combination as before. Lift the two channels and the window motor out of the door.

4
Install the new regulator and motor combination assembly into the door by installing the nuts on the two window channels first, followed by the three bolts in the window motor.
-
5
Plug the electrical connector into the window motor. Replace the remaining parts in reverse order of removal.
