How to Connect an HHO Generator

HHO generators use a catalyst such as baking soda to create a fuel additive from distilled water that is fed into the engine of a car to provide cleaner, more efficient power. It works by using the energy released by the breakdown of water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules. The unit is installed in the engine bay, where it is connected to the intake line of the engine. The installation can be accomplished at home with the proper tools.

Things You'll Need

  • HHO generator and water reserve tank with mounting brackets
  • #12 gauge wire
  • #14 gauge wire
  • Distilled water
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
  • Vacuum line tubing
  • Vacuum line "T" connector
  • Wire cutters
  • Wrench and ratchet

Instructions

    • 1

Mount the generator to a suitable location in your engine bay using the included mounting bracket. The generator is best mounted between the radiator and the front grille, or in a similar location away from the heat of the engine.

    • 2

Mount the water reserve tank in a clear location under the hood in the engine bay using the included bracket. The reserve tank should be located close to the generator.

    • 3

Connect the ground from the generator the a suitable grounding location on the vehicle chassis using a #12 gauge wire.

    • 4

Connect the power connection from your generator to the positive terminal of your car's battery using a #12 gauge wire. Make sure the battery is disconnected before making any connections.

    • 5

Route the power control wire from the generator through the engine firewall to a suitable location in the dashboard. Connect the wire to the "ACC" terminal of an accessory power switch, and mount the switch in your dashboard.

    • 6

Connect a grounding wire from the switch to a suitable chassis location using #14 gauge wire.

    • 7

Wire the "POWER" terminal of the switch into an existing 12V ignition-switched power circuit using a #14 gauge wire.

    • 8

Connect the vacuum line from the generator to your carburetor/intake manifold. Disconnect the existing vacuum line, install a "T" connector to the manifold, reinstall the original vacuum line and connect the generator vacuum line to the other port on the "T."

    • 9

Fill the reserve tank with distilled water, and add an 1/8 tsp. of baking powder. Power on your car, and flip the generator power switch to "ON" to test that your HHO generator is functioning properly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always make sure power is disconnected when working on the electrical system of your car to avoid shock.

  • Do not connect the vacuum line to the brake vacuum line.
