How to Paint a Door Casing
Door casings are the wood that borders doors. Keeping the casings clean and up-to-date with paint is like giving the house a mini face-lift. The best way to keep the casings and the house looking fresh and elegant is to keep them painted white. If you've moved into the house and noticed that the casings are the same color as the room, painting them a bright white will give the room a whole new and refreshing look. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove the door from the hinges. If the pins do not pull easily from the hinges, lightly tap under the pin ball to raise it. Continue tapping until the pin is halfway up. Pull the pin out.
-
2
Tape the walls around the casings with the painter's tape.
-
-
3
Ensure that the floor is also taped.
-
4
Pour the paint into a paint tray. If you're only painting one door casing, you can pour the paint into a plastic cup instead of using the paint tray.
-
5
Dip the brush into the paint, scraping it lightly against the side of the tray to remove excess paint.
-
6
Begin painting the top of the casing in long, even strokes.
-
7
Paint the sides of the casing--from top to bottom--when finished with the top casing.
-
8
Allow 24 hours for the paint to dry. Apply a second coat to the casing, by repeating steps 3 through 6.
-
9
Pull the tape off immediately following the second painting.
-
10
Allow the new paint 24 hours to dry before replacing the door. Simply lift the door so the hinges align, and push the pin through the hinges to secure the door.
