Planning on selling your car or trading it in for newer model? If so, consider donating your vehicle to the U.S. armed forces. Organizations such as Soldiers' Angles and the USO will gladly accept your vehicle donation. The proceeds from your donation will fund programs that help soldiers who are deployed as well as those who are wounded. There are also programs that help veterans and the families of fallen soldiers.

Clean and vacuum the interior, making sure to remove all of your belongings. Remove any important documents, such as the title, and keep them in a safe place.

Contact America's Car Donation Center at (800) 513-6560 or visit the website www.donateacar.com. America's Car Donation Center is a donation service that will pick up your vehicle, finalize the sale and give the proceeds to the charity that your choose. Some of the charitable organizations include Soldiers' Angels, USO, Any Soldier and Veterans for Peace.

Arrange a time for the vehicle to be picked up. America's Car Donation Center will have a towing company contact you within 48 hours, and then you can schedule the pickup. On the day of the pickup, you will need to provide the title and keys to the vehicle.

After the sale of the vehicle is finalized, obtain a tax receipt or an IRS Form 1098C stating what the vehicle was sold for. You will need this in order to claim this donation as a tax deduction.
