How to Create a Gift Box

Make your own boxes to fill with gifts and goodies for the holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries instead of wasting the extra money on boxes from the store. Homemade gift boxes can be created in any size and decorated to match anything you are celebrating. Use simple craft supplies and beautiful paper to create gift boxes that are as lovely as the gifts inside of them. When your box is complete, decorate the outside of it using stickers, markers, glitter, sequins, or photographs to make it even more personalized.

Instructions

    • 1

Use scissors to cut one sheet of card stock or paper into a 10 3/4-inch square. This will create a box that measures approximately 4 inches by 2 inches. Make another square measuring 11 inches.

    • 2

Fold each corner of the smaller square in towards the center. Crease the edges and then unfold the corners.

    • 3

Fold one corner towards the opposite corner where it meets the crease line. Crease the edge of the folded corner and then unfold it. Repeat this step with all four of the corners.

    • 4

Fold one corner towards the closest crease line, crease and then unfold the corner. Repeat with the remaining corners. Unfold all of the corners.

    • 5

Cut two squares deep into one corner and then cut two squares across. Create the same cuts on the reverse corner. Place the paper flat with the cuts up and down.

    • 6

Fold the left and right creases and bring them up vertically, bending the pointed ends together. Fold the sides down into the box and then crease the edges. Repeat with the top and bottom corners. Tuck the top and bottom corners into the inside of the box and crease the edges.

    • 7

Repeat steps 1 through 6 to make the top of the box.
