How to Install Granite Sinks
Granite can be a beautiful and elegant addition to any home as well as functional. Sinks made of granite can be very durable, because it is not easy to scratch, but its heavy weight can make it more difficult to install. After making the seemingly endless choice of which sink to use, the hard part of installing it is next. Just follow a few tips to fit and install your granite sink in your home and take your living space up a notch. Does this Spark an idea?

- Granite sink
- Template
- Masking tape
- Pen
- Measuring tape
- Power drill
- 12mm gauge flat bit
- Silicone putty
- Screwdriver
- Pipe wrench

Check to make sure the water pipes are long enough to reach the new sink if it sits up higher than the previous one. If you need to add longer pipes, do so before you install the new sink. Ensure there is enough space underneath the sink.
Turn off the water supply with the water valve under the sink.

Use the template supplied by the manufacturing company for the sink. Lay the template on the space to make sure there is equal space in the front and back of the sink. Apply masking tape around the template and trace an outline for the sink on the tape, so you do not mar the surface.

Take off the template and use a measuring tape to calculate the area the sink will overlap on the counter and trace a line on the tape. Determine the cut out area for the sink as well and make a line on the tape.

Drill a hole in each corner of the sink, using a 12mm gauge flat bit. Place masking tape on the heel of the jigsaw so it does not mar the surface. Saw on the interior line you made for the sink.

Put in the tap and sink strainers before you install the granite sink. Apply a line of silicone putty along the sink's lip.

Place the sink gently into the hole and be careful not to smudge the putty.

Screw in the sink clips underneath the sink and tighten with a screw driver. Place the clips evenly around the sink.

Hook the P-trap and water lines with a pipe wrench. Install the sink strainers to the waste lines. Turn on the water supply with the valve under the sink.

Tips & Warnings
Support the counter tops around the edges so it does not split when cutting with the saw.
Wipe up any putty that oozes out with a cloth.
