How to Oil an Electric Hair Cutter

An electric hair cutter oscillates a pair of coordinating multi-tooth blades at extremely high speeds. Manufacturers recommend lubricating these blades to prevent wear and keep the action moving at optimum efficiency to allow the cutters to perform well. A well-oiled hair cutter quickly removes hair growth.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small brush
  • Manufacturer's clipper oil
  1. Step 1

Unplug the hair cutter. The switch on a hair cutter is made for ease of turning the device on and off; thus it could be inadvertently turned on during the oiling process.

  2. Step 2

Clean the blades before applying oil. Use a small brush tool to remove any loose hair, hair products or other debris from the blades.

  3. Step 3

Place a few drops of oil specifically recommended by the manufacturer on the teeth of the blades. Most electric hair cutter makers produce their own oil for hair products. Plug in the hair cutter and turn it on to spread the lubricant between the blades. Clipper oil is a light natural oil that won't harm hair or leave greasy traces.

Tips & Warnings
  • Oil the blades of a new electric hair cutter before the first use. Oil the blades again after every three or four uses.
  • Clean the blades thoroughly with a brush tool after each use.
