How to Paint Camo on R/C Airplanes
Remote controlled model airplanes have long been a hobby for children and adults since their conception many years ago. Fabricating and designing these airplanes is an art in itself to most R/C airplane enthusiasts. With all the different ways to design and paint a model airplane, the camouflage design is the most popular and one of the easiest patterns to mimic. Painting a camouflage design on an R/C airplane is much easier with modern airbrushes, but it can still be performed with simple painting techniques. With a few easy-to-follow instructions, any R/C airplane owner can paint a camouflage design.
Things You'll Need
- Airbrush or soft bristle paintbrush
- Green paint

1
Use an airbrush for best results. If an airbrush is not available, use a very soft bristle brush to apply the paint. Ensure that you have the appropriate paint for the type of material that the R/C airplane is made of.
-
2
Paint the entire fuselage and wings of the airplane a light brown color. This will act as a base color and primer for paint that you will add later. Allow to dry for one to two hours.

-
3
Use a pencil to lightly stencil pattern lines for the darker brown, greens and black paint. Typically a teardrop shape or semicircle is used for patterns, but you can stencil them however you desire.
-
4
Paint on the greens in their respective area first, allow them to dry for an hour and paint the darker browns adjacent to the greens. This will produce a camo effect.
-
5
Add light patches of black in between greens and dark brown if desired or make separate patches of black dispersed across the airplane. Ensure that only a small amount of black is used in proportion to brown and green, otherwise the airplane will appear black instead of camouflaged.
