Instructions

    • 1

Cut 3-inch-by-4-inch pieces of cardstock using the paper trimmer. Consider cardstock in white, cream or a shade that matches your reception room decor, flowers or bridesmaids' dresses.

    • 2

Create a dimension border or corner designs on each label by placing the card face down on top of a brass embossing stencil with a formal flourish or pretty floral design. Place the card and stencil on a light box or hold them securely against a well-lit window. Run a metal-tipped embossing stylus around the design to produce the detailed, raised impression.

    • 3

Leave the embossed design "as is" or add color by brushing over the raised images with craft chalk using a sponge applicator or cotton ball.

    • 4

Add the couple's name or a short message, such as a thank you to guests or the wedding date to each label with alphabet rubber stamps and black stamping ink. Save time by creating the message using a magnetic stamp set that will hold all of the letters in place so you don't have to stamp each one individually. Press the stamp onto the ink pad, tap the stamp onto a piece of scrap paper to remove the excess ink, then push the stamp straight down onto the card.

    • 5

Embellish the bottom-right corner of the wedding labels with a dimensional accent such as a paper flower, a cluster of rhinestones or a tiny photo affixed with a dab of white glue.

    • 6

Affix the label to the desired surface with a strip of double-stick tape. You can also hang decorative wedding labels by using a hand-held hole punch to create a hole in the upper-left corner of each card. Use scissors to cut a piece of ribbon that's long enough to wrap around the desired item plus an additional three inches. Push one end of the ribbon through the hole, wrap the ribbon around the desired item and tie the ends of the ribbon in a knot.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're producing a large number of wedding reception labels and need to save time, add your names with a computer and printer instead of rubber stamps and ink. Create 3-inch-by-4-inch text boxes in a word processing program and input the desired text, centered top to bottom and left to right. Output the file on cardstock and use a paper trimmer to cut the cards out before embellishing.
