The Girl Scouts of America is the oldest voluntary organization for girls in the world. Here's how your daughter can join and enjoy the many benefits of membership.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Girl Scout Uniforms
  • First Aid Kits
  • Sleeping Bags
  • Tents

Step1
Locate a troop near you at the Girl Scouts Web site or by contacting the Girl Scouts of America.
Step2
Select the right program for your daughter. Daisies are kindergarten girls ages 5 to 6; Brownies are girls in grades one through three, or ages 7 through 9; and Girl Scout troops welcome girls 9 and older who have completed the third grade.
Step3
Submit a completed application form and health history along with a $7 annual membership fee.
Step4
Make sure your daughter learns the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law.
Step5
Congratulations! Your daughter is a member. You go, girl!

Tips & Warnings

  • In addition to national organization fees, each troop collects dues for its own activities and supplies. Financial assistance is available so that no girl is denied the opportunity of being a Girl Scout.
  • Uniforms are not required. However, many troops prefer that girls wear them to meetings and other troop functions for ease of recognition.

on 11/22/2005 The amount girls pay is no longer $7.00. It was increased to $10.00 annually. Many councils have scholarships for girls with low family incomes.
