Instructions

    • 1

Lay foil, plastic or cardboard down on a flat surface. Spread the amount of rock crystal you want to use evenly on top of the foil.

    • 2

Fill one spray bottle halfway with rubbing alcohol. Now add your color. Color can be added using food coloring, liquid glycerin based color or mica powder based color. Add color to alcohol until you get the desired hue. Close the bottle and shake well.

    • 3

Spray rock crystals with color. Try to spray the rock crystals as evenly as possible. Let the spray dry. You may have to spray the rock crystals three or four times to get the desired color intensity.

    • 4

When the rock crystals have dried, pour the essential oil or other fragrance into another spray bottle. Spray the crystal rocks with fragrance.

    • 5

Use a metal spoon to mix crystals. This will help spread fragrance to all of your crystals. Let the crystals dry for 24 to 48 hrs.

    • 6

When crystals have dried, pour them in a decorative bowl or jar to add fragrance to a room.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a small amount of glycerin to your fragrance. This will add sheen to your rock crystals. It will also give them a more uniform coating and slow evaporation of your fragrance. When the fragrance starts to weaken, pour the rock crystals in a zipper bag and spray with fragrance. Shake for 30 seconds, place the rock crystal on plastic or foil to dry. You can also heat rock crystals on a potpourri dish if you want to release a stronger fragrance.

  • Always protect your work space with foil, plastic or cardboard. Some essential oils or coloring can stain. If you use your hands to mix your crystals be sure to wear gloves. This will keep essential oils and colors from staining the skin and help avoid allergic reactions.
