How to Check a WOW Character Online
If you are trying to construct a group in a pinch, using the WoW Armory or checking a character nearby may be a good solution for putting together a decent group. Checking a character in-game is a fast way to look at someone's gear and achievements to see if you want them in your group, or maybe he is wearing a piece of gear you wanted to find out more about. The WoW Armory is a way to get all the information you need on a character without being in the game.

Checking a Profile In-Game

To check a character's profile, he must be visible and within a certain proximity. Once you are close enough to a character, left-click the character and you will see her health bar appear on your screen.

Right-click on the health bar. This will bring up a list of options.

Hit "Inspect" to view his gear, talents and PvP information, or hit "Compare Achievements" to view his achievements.

Go to the official World of Warcraft homepage, and click on "The Armory" in the top right corner of the page.

Type in the name of the character you wish to get information on in the search bar.

Click on the character's name in the list. Here you can view her profile, talents, achievements and PvP information. There may be many characters with the same name so check the level, race, class and server next to the name to be sure you have the correct character.

You can inspect any character in-game whether you are Horde or Alliance.
There are many sites to check character profiles (see Resources).
Many of the other sites offer gear scores. This may prove helpful if you are looking for raid members to ensure you do not invite anyone that is severely undergeared for the area you are raiding.
