How to Write to The US Supreme Court Justices

The U.S. Supreme Court justices receive correspondence from the public by letter rather than by email.

Instructions

  1. Preparing Your Letter

    • 1

Use the correct title and name for the recipient. The U.S. Supreme Court's website lists the names of current justices at http://www.supremecourtus.gov/about/briefoverview.pdf. On the envelope and in the inside address of your letter, address the letter to "Chief Justice [Full Name]" or "Justice [Full Name]."

    • 2

Use the salutation "Dear Chief Justice:" or, for the associate justices, "Dear Justice [Last Name]:"

    • 3

      Mail your letter to:

The Supreme Court of the United States
      One First Street NE
      Washington, DC 20543

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have questions or comments of a general nature that need not go to a specific justice, write to the public information officer at the same address.
