How to Seal Driveway Pavers
Paver stones are a popular material choice for home and business owners for patios, walkways, courtyards and driveways. While a driveway constructed with paver stones can be a substantial investment, it can be protected through sealing. Sealing creates an invisible coating that protects the paver stones from the various weather elements, as well as foreign substances, such as motor oil, that may come into contact with them. The process of sealing driveway pavers is simple enough for DIY implementation. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Allow 60 days after your new paver stone driveway is installed before sealing. The concrete must cure before it is sealed.
-
2
Edge the perimeter of the driveway to remove any grass that may be present. You may have to hand weed grass that has sprouted up between the pavers.
-
-
3
Spot clean any areas that are stained by using a stiff-bristled scrubbing brush and a commercial cleaner and de-greaser. Follow the product instructions for application.
-
4
Apply a nitric acid solution to the pavers to remove any salts or surface dirt that was not removed by spot cleaning. Follow the product instructions for application.
-
5
Allow the paver stones to dry overnight, and then refill the joints between the pavers with sand. Sweep any excess sand off of the surface.
-
6
Use a pump sprayer to apply the paver sealant to the middle of the driveway and brush or roll the edges of the driveway (to prevent overspray damaging the surrounding area). Follow the product instructions for application.
Spray a second coat of paver sealant, if desired. Refer to product instructions for recommended drying time between applications.
