Tips & Warnings
If you want to compost orange peels and other food waste, making a hot compost pile will reduce your chances of attracting insect and rodent pests. When building a hot compost pile, use a container with dimensions of at least three feet on all sides. Combine equal parts carbon-rich and nitrogen-rich materials and turn every few days.
Too much of any kind of compost material can compromise the quality of your finished product. If you produce a lot of orange peel waste, consider composting only part of the peels and finding alternative uses for the rest.
