Treat with a solvent based remover; dye in lip-gloss and lipstick can spread and cause an even larger stain if a water based solvent is used. Purchase a product that is formulated to remove hard stains such as lip-gloss, oil stains, adhesives and chewing gum. Two of these products are Motsenbocker's Lift Off #2 and Goo Gone; these can be found at a discount or hardware store.

2
Rub the stain gently with vegetable or mineral oil if you do not have a commercial product available. Allow this to sit for about 10 to 15 minutes.

3
Blot all the excess oil with a terry cloth rag or paper towels.

Mix a solution of one part ammonia and one part water. Do not use this solution if your fabric is wool or silk. Work this into the stain, rinse well and squeeze out the excess water.

Sponge in some isopropyl rubbing alcohol if any of the stain remains on the fabric according to the doityourself.com website. Apply a laundry pre-treatment solution and launder in the hottest water the fabric can withstand.
