How to Download Software at DSL Speed
Several different Internet connections are available for home users, and if you are looking for a way to surf the web that won't break the bank but is considerably faster than dial-up speed, you may want to try out DSL. Like dial-up, DSL connects through your home phone land-line. However, it does not block your phone access and you can download content much faster.

1
Contact a local DSL provider for service. You cannot connect and download content without having a DSL subscription with an Internet provider.
-
2
Connect a DSL phone-line adapter to an available phone outlet. Newer locations have actual DSL jacks. But if this is not the case, a DSL adapter allows the larger Ethernet cables to connect to the phone line.

3
Plug an Ethernet cable into the DSL adapter and connect the other end of the cable into a DSL modem's "Internet" port.
-
4
Connect a second Ethernet cable into the port next to the DSL's "Internet" port. Plug the other end into the Ethernet port on the back of the computer.
-
5
Power on the DSL modem and computer, then select the Internet connection option in the lower right corner of the desktop. The small screen icon is going to appear "On." This means the computer is connected to the Internet via the DSL connection.
-
6
Launch your Internet browser and navigate to the site you want to download content from. Right-click on the content if there is no "Download" button and select "Save Image As" (for pictures) or "Save Link As." The content is now going to download to your computer at DSL speed.
