How to Clean a P68 Harman Pellet Stove
Since 1979, Harman Stoves has supplied a wide variety of heating solutions to home and business owners. Harman pellet stoves provide a heating alternative for environmentally conscious people seeking fuel efficiency and low environmental impact. Although pellets provide an extremely efficient fuel source---especially premium grade pellets that generate low amounts of ash when burned---Harman pellets stoves must receive regular cleaning to work properly. Clean your P68 stove's burn pot daily and the entire unit after the use of one ton of pellets or as needed if burning non-premium grade/high ash pellets. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Turn off and unplug your Harman P68 pellet stove.
-
2
Wait for the stove to cool and then open the glass front door. Use your Harman scraper to loosen ash from the inside walls and the heat exchanger at the top of the unit.
-
-
3
Use your shop or HEPA filtration vacuum to remove the loose ashes or brush the ashes into a container.
-
4
Empty the burn pot and scrape it thoroughly including the burn pot holes and vacuum or brush away the ashes. To access the "clean-out" chamber, remove the wing nuts on the burn pot and lift away the chamber's cover. Vacuum the inside, scraping or brushing as needed to loosen ash and debris, and then screw the cover back into place.
-
5
Remove and dispose of the ashes. To remove the ashes, put on a pair of heat-resistant work gloves, open the ash-pan access door by pulling on the handle and slide the ash pan carefully out of the stove. Pour the ashes into your storage container and tightly cap the container with a lid.
-
6
Attach a brush attachment to your vacuum and vacuum the combustion blower wheel that helps pull gases from the firebox. To access the wheel, unlatch the combustion blower cover, pull it slowly from the unit and set it aside. Carefully vacuum or brush the wheel, flue and around the ESP temperature sensor and then return the cover.
-
7
Return the ash pan to the stove and close the ash-pan access door.

Tips & Warnings
To clean the stove while in use, put on a pair of heat-resistant gloves and scrape away ash from the burn pot's grate, in front of and under the fire as needed.
Vacuum any loose pellets trapped in the "feeder body" at least once a year or with continuous use. To access the feeder body, remove the rear and feeder covers on the back of the stove.
Place the ash container in a flat area away from any items that can burn such as buildings and vehicles until the ashes cool and then dispose of following your local municipality's ash disposal rules.
Always have a professional technician clean and inspect your Harman P68 pellet stove at least once a year.
Never clean the glass unless your stove has completely cooled as moisture can cause heated glass to crack or break.
