How to Unclog a Cologne Bottle
The sticky nature of cologne can cause spray bottles to become clogged. Dealing with a clogged bottle can be frustrating when you don't want to waste that precious liquid, but getting it to spritz from the bottle is impossible. Spray pumps are usually cheap pieces of plastic that often break, but with any luck your pump will still be functional. Try a few different things to see if you can restore your bottle back to normal. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Cologne bottle
- Hot water
- Spray bottle
- Soap
- Rubbing alcohol
- Lubricating oil

Remove the sprayer pump from the top of the cologne bottle.

Run the spray pump under hot water. Place the sprayer pump back on the cologne bottle and test to see if it is unclogged.

Force hot water through the pump by submerging the plastic tube in a sink full of hot water and spraying hot water through the nozzle. Test the tube to see if it is unclogged.

Soak the spray pump overnight in hot water. Place the sprayer pump back on the cologne bottle and test to see if it is unclogged.

Place the spray pump in a shallow container and spray it with a lubricating oil. Let it sit for a half hour. Rinse repeatedly with hot water. Place the sprayer pump back on the cologne bottle and test to see if it is unclogged.

Replace the spray pump with a spray pump from another empty bottle--preferably another cologne bottle--or purchase an empty spray bottle from your local retail store and use the bottle's spray pump on your cologne bottle.

Tips & Warnings
Lubricating oils should be used with caution. Use in a well-ventilated area and cover your mouth, nose and eyes. Be sure to remove all traces of lubricating oil from your spray pump before using it to apply cologne to your body.
