How to Connect a Dell Monitor to a Computer
Monitors are necessary for viewing the information stored on a computer. One of the most popular manufacturers of monitors and computers is Dell. To connect a monitor to a computer, you must have a compatible connection cable. You can easily connect a Dell monitor to most any kind of computer once you determine the type of connection port on your computer and your Dell monitor.

Determine which type of connection port your computer has as well as the type of connection cable your Dell monitor has. Common ports include the display port, DVI port and VGA port.

Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cord from the power source.

Connect the display port cable, DVI cable or VGA cable (depending upon your connection capabilities) by matching up the Dell monitor connection cable to its corresponding port on the back of your computer.

Turn on the Dell monitor and the computer to test your connection.

Tips & Warnings
If the Dell monitor screen is blank when you test the connection, press the "Input Selection" button on the front of the monitor to ensure that the correct input is selected.
Do not force the Dell monitor connection cable into a computer input; it should fit easily into the correct corresponding port.
