How to Take Apart Office Cubicles
When it's time to close up shop on a new business venture, or you believe it's time to stop separating your workers for a happier workplace, taking apart office cubicles is a moderately difficult task. While the size and shape of the cubicle may vary, the steps are generally the same.
Things You'll Need
- Hammer
- Screwdriver (flat head or Phillips, depending on the cubicle)
- Sturdy chair

1
Start on the cubicle's outside walls and focus on one wall at a time. If you start in the middle, you may be removing load-bearing walls and a few of them could collapse at once.
-
2
Usually, there's a computer or filing shelf bolted into the cubicle sides. Remove these shelves with a screwdriver. Make sure these are out of the way before starting on the actual cubicle walls themselves.

3
Scan the walls to find where they are attached. Use a chair to look on top of the cubicle. Once found, remove the screws one by one. Have a second person hold the wall in place so it doesn't fall down once the screws are removed.

Most cubicles are also hooked into each other in addition to--or sometimes instead of--the screws. As such, when detaching the walls, you may have to lift them over the hooks after they're unscrewed. A second person helping comes in handy here.

Stack the walls up to the side and continue on with the rest. Soon enough, the space will be clear for whatever next venture you pursue.

Tips & Warnings
Leave those rolling office chairs alone and get a regular, four-legged sturdy chair.
