How to Turn on a Hayward Pool Heater

Hayward pool heaters are devices that control the temperature of pool and spa water. The heaters are used to warm the water so that swimming in pools and sitting in spas is more comfortable. The heaters are most convenient when the weather is nice, but not warm enough to keep the water at a comfortable temperature, or if you plan on swimming or sitting in the spa at night.

  • Plug the pool heater into a working electrical outlet. A line of dots will appear on the LCD screen, indicating heater is in "Standby" mode. Hayward heaters do not have a true "Off" mode, unless the heater is not plugged into an electrical outlet.

  • Press the "Pool" or "Spa" button to start heating the pool or spa. The indicator light will go on above the "Pool" or "Spa" button, indicating the heater is working.

  • Re-enter "Standby" mode by pressing the "Pool" or "Spa" button, depending on which mode is currently in operation.
