How to Program an Emerson Jumbo Remote

Save

Many home entertainment centers have several devices, such as DVD players, satellite receivers, televisions and VCRs, each of which uses a different remote control for operation. The Emerson Jumbo remote control is a universal remote control that allows users to operate all of the devices in an entertainment center from one remote. In order to operate all of the devices, you need to program the remote control with a special code for each device.

Manual Code Entry

  • Press the "Power" button on the device you want to program to turn it on.

  • Point the Emerson Jumbo remote control at the device and press and hold the "Code Search" button until the indicator light on the remote turns on.

  • Look up the set of three-digit codes located at the end of the instruction manual. A link to the manual can be found in the Resources section. The codes are arranged by the manufacturer name.

  • Push the button that you want to control the device. For example, if you are programming your DVD player, press the "DVD" button.

  • Enter the first code for the device using the number buttons on the keypad. The indicator light will flash when you push each button. After the third button is pressed, the indicator light will turn off.

  • Test the code by pressing the "On/Off" button on the remote control. If the device shuts off, the correct code has been entered. If the device does not turn off, repeat Steps 2-5 using the next code in the list.

Code Search

  • Press the "Power" button on the device you want to program.

  • Press and hold the "Code Search" button while pointing the remote at the device until the indicator light turns on.

  • Push the button on the remote control that you want to use to program the device.

  • Push the "On/Off" button slowly until the device turns off. The remote control scrolls through all of its stored codes to find the one that is compatible with your device.

  • Save the code by pressing the "Enter" button as soon as the device shuts off. The indicator light will turn off.

  • Test the programmed code by pressing the "On/Off" button. If the device turns on again, the remote is correctly set. If the device does not turn on, you did not press the "Enter" button in time, and you will need to repeat Steps 1-5.
