How to Decorate a Prom for a Fairy Theme
If you are having a prom with a fairy theme, do not worry because this theme is actually easier than you think. You will need to initially decide what kind of fairies will be the theme. Will you have water or fire fairies? You could have forest fairies, night fairies, or fairy tale fairies like in 'Sleeping Beauty.' Whatever fairies you decide will dictate the colors used. Water fairies will be shades of blue. Fire fairies will be shades of orange, red, and yellow. Forest fairies will be shades of green. Refer to the Fairy Village website art for more color ideas. - Paper Streamers
- Colored paper
- Extension cord
- Scissors
- Metallic colored foil
- Glue
- Bubble machine
- 3-4 wands
- Tape
- Christmas lights
- Glitter
- Fairy stencils or cutouts

Hang the paper streamers from the ceilings and any lamps in the room. Be sure to keep the paper away from the actual light bulbs. Fasten streamers with tape. Step back from the place you are hanging the streamers to see how it looks from a different perspective. Place the streamer 4 to 6 inches apart. Alternate the colors of the streamers so you do not get a big cluster of the same color. Now stand at the entrance of the room to see if enough streamers are up or if too many streamers are up.

Sprinkle glitter on tables throughout the room. Sprinkle some glitter on the floor of the room. Place some glue on several sheets of the colored paper and pour the glitter over the glued parts. Blow the excess glitter off. Let the glitter dry for at least 10 minutes. Then place the colored sheets of paper around the room, particularly on walls and tables.

Cut shapes like stars, the moon, flames, or flowers (depending on the type of fairy theme you chose for the prom) out of the different colored metallic foils. Using tape, place these shapes onto the walls of the room. Stand in the middle of the room and scan all the walls to make sure there are enough foil cutouts placed everywhere.

Place the wands on the tables throughout the room. Take the fairy stencils or cutouts and fasten them to the walls around the room. Again stand in the middle of the room and scan the walls to make sure you have placed enough stencils around the room.

Take the Christmas lights and hang them up around the room, fastening them to the walls and ceiling with tape. Use the extension cord if you get too far away from the outlet. For a water fairy theme you will want blue Christmas lights. For a forest fairy theme you will want green Christmas lights. For other fairy themes, all white Christmas lights will work. Place the bubble machine by the entrance to the room and turn the bubble machine on a few minutes before the guests arrive.
