Things You'll Need:
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Baking soda
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Floss
- Strawberries or lemon
- Straws
-
Step 1
Brush your teeth after every meal. Brush all surfaces of all your teeth with medium force for the best teeth whitening effects. Brushing too hard will not make your teeth whiter and can cause gum bleeding.
-
Step 2
Use teeth whitening toothpastes that are approved by the American Dental Association. Again, do not brush too hard or soft for the best tooth whitening.
-
Step 3
Combine baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for a homemade toothpaste that should be used at least once every week. Brush with the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for five minutes and then wash out your mouth to best whiten teeth.
-
Step 4
Floss regularly! If you do not floss, bits of food will get lodged in your mouth which can cause decay and discoloration. Floss at least once per day (although it is best to floss after every meal) for optimal tooth whitening and gum health.
-
Step 5
Eating lemons or strawberries is a traditional way to help whiten teeth, but don't eat too much as the acid may tear away your tooth's enamel.
-
Step 6
Cut down on sugary foods and drinks. The sugar in these products will make your teeth decay and become yellow. If you can, use a straw with sugary drinks to avoid some of the sugar build up on your teeth.
-
Step 7
Cut down on smoking. Smoke makes your teeth yellow and will thwart all your tooth whitening efforts. Also, it's bad for your health!
-
Step 8
Cut down on coffee and red wine. Both drinks tend to stain your teeth and slow down the teeth whitening process.
