How to Create an Email Signature Image
Ever wanted a custom email signature? Plenty of websites offer ready-made email signature images, but making a custom image is easy to do. Use free online photo editing software to create a unique signature image. Upload it and it's ready to use. These instructions are written for Outlook and Hotmail, but they work with any email that allows HTML signature files.

Choose an image. Any photo, logo or JPG file will work.

Open the image in photo editing software. Free online programs like Picnik and ImageShack have easy-to-use tools for cropping and adjusting colors.

Keep the file size small, otherwise it'll take forever to load. Rich Menga at PCMech recommends making an email signature 100-by-75 pixels to keep it manageable.

Experiment. Crop, adjust colors, add text and make any changes you want to the image.

Save the image to an online photo storage site. The site must allow direct linking for the signature to work.

Make note of the web address where the image is stored. The address is called the URL.

Open Outlook or Hotmail and find the email signature box. It's under "Options."

Add HTML to the signature file. In Outlook, choose "Edit Signature" then click on the "file" button. In Hotmail, choose "Edit in HTML" mode.

Insert the image URL. In Outlook, choose "browse" and navigate to the page. In Hotmail, type this (replacing with the actual URL, of course):

Check the option "Add signature to all outgoing messages" and click "Apply."

Tips & Warnings
Make an email signature with your company logo for a work account.
ImageShack is one site that allows direct links, but there are others. Read the terms of service to find out if a photo-sharing site allows direct links.
Yahoo! Mail doesn't allow HTML email signatures, so this method won't work there.
Flickr doesn't allow direct linking, so don't use it for this purpose.
