1
Stand in front of the mirror and turn on all available light. If the light is not sufficient, bring in lamps from another room and remove their shades. The lighting may not be pretty, but now is not the time for vanity.
-
2
Comb through your hair (whether it's on your head, your face, or anywhere else on your body) for any sign of discoloration. Sometimes a discolored hair may not be gray and is simply a lighter shade of blond, but you can pluck those anyway. It's better to be safe than sorry.

3
When you find a hair, take the tweezers and place them as close to the hair root as possible. Press the tweezers to clamp down on the hair and quickly pull them away from your face, plucking the hair from the root. There's a good chance this will hurt.
-
4
Examine your tweezers. If you plucked out the entire hair, you should see the small white dot at its base, which is the hair root. If you don't see it, then you might have just snipped the hair, in which case you should try to locate it again.
-
5
Repeat the above steps for any many gray hairs as necessary. If you are having a hard time examining out of the way parts of your body (such as the back of your head) strategically place a second mirror or have a friend come over to help.
-
6
At some point, when the gray hairs start to outnumber the colored ones, you're going to have to throw in the towel and start coloring your hair. If not, soon you'll have nothing left to pluck!
